2023: Godwin Emefiele supporters take control of the APC national convention

Eagles Square – Supporters pushing for the presidential candidacy of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele stole the show in the nation’s capital, Abuja, on Saturday March 26, just as the ruling All Progressives party Congress (APC), held its national convention.

Supporters, made up mostly of young people and women, say they have been the biggest beneficiaries of Emefiele’s empowerment programs at the apex bank.

They swarmed the nation’s capital by the thousands, calling on the bank’s chief to run for president in 2023.

The youth group under the platform ‘Arewa Alliance For Godwin Emefiele 2023’, carried placards with inscriptions urging Emefiele to ‘answer’ the call to stand for the highest office.

Other Emefiele support groups also flooded the APC convention arena with posters, as thousands of worshipers came out to show their solidarity and support for his candidacy.

Last month, Efiele’s mostly young supporters were spotted wearing white T-shirts that read “MEFFY 2023” at an event held in Lagos to enlist him in the race.

The group’s facilitator, Wale Fapohunda, told the assembly that since Emefiele’s appointment as CBN governor, he had spent his energy building a resilient financial system that could meet the development needs of the country. ‘economy.

He said the head of the apex bank recorded the feat, ignoring the glaring fact that the Nigerian economy plunged into its worst state on record during his tenure as CBN Governor.

In a related development, a political analyst, Monsuru Arilesere, said Emefiele has every right to aspire to become Nigeria’s president before the 2023 general election.

In a statement sent to reporters on Tuesday, March 8, Arilesere noted that Emefiele not only has the undeniable right to run for the highest office in the country, he is also highly qualified to do so.

The analyst was reacting to a national newspaper editorial published on Monday, March 7 which focused on the rumored Emefiele 2023 ambition.
