TRUMBULL, Conn., Nov. 11, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — What do patients want from chiropractors in their treatment? The top questions are what they don’t want in treatments and what they want between treatments, according to ZetrOZ Systems’ survey of practitioners at one of the largest national chiropractor conventions.

ZetrOZ, makers of the sam® Sustained Acoustic Medicine, presented its technology at the Florida Chiropractic Association National Conference in August. Christopher Gardner, Chief Commercial Officer of ZetrOZ, spoke directly with over 70 chiropractors to find out what their patients were looking for in their treatment.

“The overwhelming majority said their patients were looking for drug-free, non-invasive treatment options,” Gardner said. “Most importantly, 100% of the chiropractors I spoke to said their patients wanted to know what they could do between visits to support their recovery.”

This is where ZetrOZ and sam® Come in. sam® is a long-lasting, everyday, portable pain relief ultrasound device which can eliminate the need for painkillers and surgery when prescribed to treat soft tissue injuries. sam® has been validated in more than 30 clinical studies and more than 300,000 patients have been successfully treated. The therapy is widely known in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine, but less so in the chiropractic community.

Gardner’s experience at the convention inspired him to write an informative article article for the chiropractic community answering chiropractors’ most pressing questions about how sam® can help them deliver more to their patients and ultimately elevate their practices.

Gardner’s article answers questions such as whether sam® requires a prescription and what benefits sam® offers beyond those of traditional in-office ultrasound therapy. As an FDA-approved Class II medical device, sam® requires a prescription from a licensed healthcare professional.

However, the technology has advantages not available to in-office ultrasound treatments. Since the FDA has cleared sam® for self-administration and the device can be worn discreetly, patients can go about their daily activities while receiving treatment, making treatment easily accessible and easy to regularize .

In addition, sam® uses long duration continuous 3MHz ultrasound rather than the short 15 minute 3MHz ultrasound typically provided in clinical settings. Traditional ultrasound produces deep soothing heat, good for therapeutic benefits requiring pain relief, but also requires the ultrasound unit to be continuously applied by the healthcare provider.

In contrast, the ZetrOZ sam® system uses a wearable patch to deliver long-lasting ultrasound for up to four hours a day. The device for home and portable use produces a deep and sustained delivery of ultrasound to promote soft tissue healing. The patented treatment algorithm and technology allows the ultrasound device to be placed securely on the body for long periods of time, allowing sam® to be a small, portable device. Current research also indicates that ultrasound applied for longer periods of time produces better results, not only in relieving pain, but also in speeding up the body’s healing processes.

Studies show daily, sustained acoustic medicine accelerates soft tissue wound healing, and provides symptomatic relief of osteoarthritis-related knee pain and herniated disc-related back pain. ZetrOZ technology has been proven to provide pain reduction in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial published in 2020 in the journal of pain research. A 2020 study published in the World Journal of Orthopedic Research found 87 percent of users demonstrated improved function after using the ZetrOZ samⓇ device.

Gardner notes that surgeons, physicians, physical therapists, sports clinics, and professional and university athletic programs have discovered the benefits of ZetrOz technology. ZetrOZ customers and patients say the technology allows athletes to return to play sooner and employees to return to work sooner. A study found that workers’ compensation claims are reduced by an average of $27,000 when injured people use sam®.

Results like these explain why large organizations are recognizing and adopting sam® technology. Recently, a nationwide network of Veterans Affairs health centers used ZetrOz technology. Gardner’s article lays out the benefits specifically for chiropractors and their patients.

“The sam® device is a natural fit for chiropractors’ treatment regimens,” said Gardner. “The technology is designed for outpatient use and beneficial for rehabilitation and pain management. The problem is simply to introduce the device to the chiropractic community, as they fully understand the therapeutic benefits that sam® offers to help heal soft tissue injuries and manage pain.
