Huron Plainman | Local realtors attend the national convention in San Diego

HURON — Ace Realty Broker/Owner Angie Uttecht and Ace Realty Broker/Partner Laurie Smith recently attended the National Association of Realtors annual convention in San Diego. More than 10,000 Realtors® from across the country and around the world gathered in San Diego to experience the world’s premier event for real estate professionals. Uttecht & Smith heard from NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun, attended the inaugural gala where 2022 NAR leaders were installed, was inspired and motivated by former New Saints quarterback -Orleans and Super Bowl XLIV MVP Drew Brees as well as four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in world championship history.

The conference theme was “Rise and Shine” and served as the theme for the first-ever hybrid conference and expo – in-person and virtual – REALTORS®, the annual conference of the world’s largest professional association.

Uttecht and Smith interacted with 250 exhibitors at the industry’s largest trade show and attended some of the 80 educational sessions on a wide range of topics, including emerging real estate technologies, housing supply and housing issues. affordability, and cybersecurity, among others.

Uttecht was a member of the NAR committee for the Risk Management Issues Committee, where she served as co-chair for the Midwest region on emerging real estate liability issues currently facing the real estate industry. She was also a voting delegate representing HBOR in voting on the association’s historic governance changes, all of which focused on transparency and consumer first.

NAR’s last in-person annual conference was nearly two years ago. During this time, Realtors® have risen to meet daunting business challenges and helped lead the real estate industry and our economy through the difficult times presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
