The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) faction supported by President Rodrigo Duterte and led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi will hold its national convention on Wednesday, September 8.
The convention, a mix of physical and online events, will finalize the ruling party’s presidential, vice-presidential and senatorial candidates.
The Cusi faction had previously endorsed Senator Bong Go and President Duterte as its presidential and vice-presidential bets. While Duterte accepted the nomination, Go had declined the approval. But as with everything in politics, nothing is final. Duterte and Go are both expected to physically attend the convention.
The other faction of the PDP, led by the potential presidential candidate and Senator Manny Pacquiao, will hold its own assembly later in September.
