The FFA chapters of South Johnston and Cleveland High School have qualified to attend the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The South Johnston FFA Food Science and Technology team recently won first place in the North Carolina FFA State Food Science and Technology Competition. They also qualified for in-person events in Indianapolis after making the Top 17 in the country. South Johnston High School is poised to enter the country’s Top 10 or perhaps win a national championship.
Team members include: Joshua Williams – 2021 Graduate; Adam Miller – Senior; Morgan Simpson – Junior; Kara Allen – junior; and Agriculture Professor and FFA Advisor – John Ross Robertson.
The Cleveland FFA Milk Quality won the state’s top spot in the North Carolina FFA State Milk Product and Quality Competition. The victory qualified the team for the in-person events in Indianapolis.
Team members include Olivia Bondurant, Kaylee McLawhorn, Lilly Benjamin and Erin Knittel. The advisor is Brett Capps. The Cleveland team participated in a statewide test that was conducted online this year. The test consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions and five cheese identifications.
Both teams will compete nationally in Indianapolis during the FFA National Convention on October 27, 2021.
