The Republican National Convention of 2024, a chance for redemption

The Utah GOP bid for the 2012 Republican National Convention, but lost to Tampa. One of the main reasons Beehive State took second was the lack of hotel rooms in the downtown area. But, Jorgenson told KSL NewsRadio that might not be an issue until 2024.

“The new Hyatt being installed downtown was a critical part of the infrastructure it would take to complete this offering,” he said.

“I think it would be a very good, near-maiden trip for the hotel.”

Jorgenson said December 1, 2021 was the official deadline to submit the offer. Until then, the Utah GOP will work alongside the Utah Tourism Board and Visit Salt Lake to put the finishing touches on the whole thing.
